The Boren Scholarship (for undergraduates) and Fellowship (for graduate students) fund international study experiences grounded in long-term linguistic and cultural immersion in world regions critical to US national security and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Awardees commit to serving at least one year in a US government position relevant to national security, very broadly understood.
